Welcome to Island View House Bed & Breakfast located in Castletownbere on the Beara Peninsula in scenic West Cork.
Each room has a private bathroom, 32-inch flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Rooms also have a hairdryer and complementary toiletries. Our spacious car park offers our guests complimentary and safe parking. All the bedrooms are non-smoking.
Situated in Castletownbere our B&B is set in an ideal location for visitors that are touring West Cork. The town is situated along the 2,500km ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ running down the west coast of Ireland, as well as on The Beara Way walking route that takes in many local historical and archaeological sites.
Castletownbere is home to a multitude of artists, writers, artisan food producers, and craft makers. From pottery to cheese and wood turners to handmade soap. Many of these local foods and crafts can be sampled and purchased at our regular markets held in the Town Square on the first Thursday of the month, and every Thursday in the summer months.
The Beara Way is a 196km circular route along the Beara Peninsula, crossing Co. Cork and Co. Kerry. The total aggregate ascent is nearly 5300m over the whole route and includes some short but steep climbs. A loop of the route circumnavigates Bere Island with its great forts, and a spur takes you out (by a trip on Ireland’s only cable-car) to Dursey Island.

Standard double or twin rooms offer comfort in relaxing surroundings for up to two guests, accommodated in a double or twin bed. For groups of three, we have triple standard rooms available containing a double and a single bed.

How to Find Island View House Castletownbere Bed and Breakfast :
From Cork City – Take the N71 to Bandon, (West Cork) turning right onto R586 at the bridge in Bandon for Dunmanway and Bantry. Back onto the N71 from Bantry to Glengarriff. Turn left in Glengarriff onto R572 to Castletownbere. When you come right into the town, turn right at Supervalu. 150 meters up, take the first left. Keep left you go over two-speed ramps, after speed rams, second entrance on the right in Island View House.

Island View House is an ideal location to tour Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way. You will need to hire a car in Cork city for these tours, if you do not already have one. Castletownbere and its surrounding area offers many wonderful walking opportunities. Walking the Beara route crosses a beautiful part of Ireland and lets you see some of the most unspoilt parts of the south-west region. It offers magnificently rugged mountain and seacoast scenery which frequently passes by rich evidence of a heavily populated prehistoric past in the form of standing stones and burial monuments. There are also many fine villages enroute to explore, such as Allihies and Eyries.
