Kinsale: Rivermount
House B&B: "Beautiful
scenery, homey
atmosphere and gracious
hostess"
lashe May 29, 2007
We found the Rivermount
House in our Town &
Country B&B Guide and
could not have been
happier with our choice.
Claire is about as
bubbly and friendly a
woman as you can find.
She was more than happy
to give us suggestions
for dinner and shopping
in town. (That said, be
sure to check out Hoby's
for dinner in Kinsale.)
Our room was very large
and comfortable with a
beautiful view of the
river and countryside.
It is only a 5 minute
drive into town and
worth being out of the
city. Breakfast was
amazing too! There was a
huge menu to choose from
(the porridge and salmon
were excellent) and
Claire was always
available and happy to
meet with all the
guests. We thoroughly
enjoyed our stay at
Rivermount and wish we
could have stayed for
multiple nights. A
beautiful and relaxing
place to stay if ever
traveling to Kinsale!

A five minute drive
from kinsale village (
some better directional
signs needed) but the
place ,is worth finding,
the view overlooking the
Bandon river, is in
itself worth it all,
Claire the owner
personifies the true

"Rivermount -- A Great
Place To Stay"
Apr 16, 2006: A
TripAdvisor Member, New

I
also
stayed
at
Rivermount
in
March,
2006,
travelling
with
my
16
year
old
daughter.
To
say
that
my
experience
was
vastly
different
than
the
earlier
negative
reviewer
would
be
an
understatement.
First
of
all,
I
found
Clare
and
her
husband,
whom
I
met
and
chatted
with
one
morning,
to
be
charming,
amiable
and
outgoing
hosts.
The
home
itself
is
immaculate
and
set
in a
lovely
pastoral
environment.
One
word
of
caution
--
if
you
are
looking
to
be
right
"in
town,"
then
this
isn't
the
place
for
you.
Kinsale
is
probably
only
5-7
minutes
away
and,
at
least
for
my
tastes,
I
prefer
the
country
environment
offered
at
Rivermount.
As
for
the
rooms,
they
are
spectacular
and
well-furnished.
And,
the
showers
(indeed,
all
the
facilities)
worked
great.
And,
as
seems
to
be
the
case
with
so
much
of
Ireland,
the
entire
home
was
absolutely
spotless.
As
for
breakfast,
it
was
magnificent.
You
were
offered
a
number
of
alternatives
including,
of
course,
the
traditional
Irish
breakfast.
Everything
served
was
tasty
and
fresh.
Speaking
from
myself,
I
wouldn't
hesitate
to
stay
at
Rivermount
again,
and
I'd
recommend
it
without
any
reservation.

Kinsale:
Rivermount House B&B: "Loved it!"
Mar 27, 2006: A TripAdvisor

We stayed at
Rivermount House for one night, in March
2006. As with the previous reviewer,
there were also 4 of us. That apparently
is all we have in common. Our stay was
short but wonderful. We arrived while
some workmen were finishing up with some
remodel work. It was no problem at all.
Clare was helpful and very attentive.
The place was clean, quiet and
everything, including the showers,
worked fine. She recommended places for
us to eat that evening, and helped us
plan our route when we left in the
morning. What more can you ask for?!
Don't hestate to stay here, you won't be
disappointed.

RICK STEVE COMMENTS
Skip Cork City and go right to Kinsale. Rick needs to
check out Rivermount B&B just outside of town. It is a
4* AA establishment. Beautifully decorated, magnificent
view of the river and mountains, warm hospitality and a
wonderful breakfast. Fresh flowers all over the house! I
could go on and on but Rick says it all so much better!

Kensale was recommended by Rick and we heartily agree.
We recommend the Rivermount House BB. Clare is a great
hostess and serves a great meal. It is a bit out of town
but we like avoiding the city hassle, email

We had a great Kinsale dinner at Man Friday. It is
located fifty meters west of The Spaniard. While in
Kinsale we went to Blarney. I would skip this if you are
limited for time.

Kinsale- Rivermount house has a great view of the river
valley and friendly hosts. The house is clean and nicely
decorated. Hoby's restaurant in town had the best salmon
dish and other great food. The Spaniard pub had good
atmosphere atop the town.

Booked the last time I was in Ireland, I'm finding this
house difficult to get into - but worth it when you can.
It's large with a great TV room and sun porch where you
can enjoy the views of the river ... or eat breakfast.
You'll have your choice of breakfasts in the morning
and, although a business, the owner will usually stop by
to introduce herself and ask about your trip before
sending her daughter off to school.

A piece of heaven, the best view we have woken up to
on our trip. Great pancakes too!!!!
Deannie & Tim Maloney, New York.
A great B&B, we really appreciated the tea and
sympathy on arrival, Claire made us feel so welcome, she
is a great hostess. Hope to see you again in 2005
Pam and Henry Patton, Aberdeen, Scotland.
The best B&B by miles that we have stayed on during
our trip, Claire is the best cook, the pancakes alone
will bring us back for sure.
Paul & Mary Henning, Maryland, USA.
A very pleasant stay, loved all the extra's. The face
flannels were very much appreciated. We will be sure to
return.
The Callaghan Family, Nth Carolina, USA.
Well worth the wait, this is our 3rd time trying to
get a room here, now we know what we have been missing
we will be sure to book well in advance in the future.
Kate and Lucy were an added treat.
Dale & Allison Bennett, Illinois USA.
Simply the best B&B we have found in our 11 years of
coming to Ireland, fully deserving of you AA award.
Claire's dedication and attention to detail does
not go un-noticed. Till we meet again.

Great B&B Stay
We traveled Ireland for the first time in April. Having
excellent accommodations for most of the trip, we do
however wish to compliment one in particular. We spent 3
nights in Kinsale - staying at the picturesque
Rivermount B&B - owned and operated by Clare O'Sullivan.
This was truly the highlight of our vacation! Not only
was Clare most gracious and hospitable, the
accommodations and sun parlor (if they call them that in
Ireland - chuckle) are magnificent! We needed a day of
rest after driving for 3 - and the views from Clare's
parlor are restful, yet breathtaking. Clare's breakfasts
are also nothing shy of scrumptious (try the Special
Pancakes for sure); and, her helpfulness in eating at
the right spots - and which points to see - made our
Kinsale stay a most memorable one! We strongly recommend
this pretty village for the true hint of Ireland's south
coastal life - but be sure to book your stay with Clare
online at
www.rivermount.com - tell Clare Lou & Jean
from Cape Cod sent you, and will be back someday.

Kinsale: Rivermount House B&B: "Loved our stay at
Rivermount House"
April 27, 2005: A TripAdvisor Member, Genoa, Illinois
Last month we stayed at the Rivermount House B&B in
Kinsale, Ireland. From the time we arrived we were
treated like family. This was only our second stay at a
B&B and we really did not know what to expect. We
wondered what it would be like staying in someone's home
as a guest. Let me tell you we now feel like we have
family in Ireland. We were impressed with our room which
included a coffee maker and some snacks. We were served
tea and coffee at arrival and all our questions about
the town of Kinsale were answered. We knew where to
shop, where to dine, and where to play. Clare O'Sullivan
the proprieter was very helpfull and made us feel like
family. We even had the pleasure of interacting with her
two children which gave us a greater insight into Irish
families. The breakfast that was included in our room
rate was delicious. I cannot wait until our next trip to
Kinsale and the Rivermount B&B.
BEST B&B
Recently we stayed at the Rivermount B&B and enjoyed our
all too brief stay
very much. Of the dozen B&B's we stayed at, this was
by far the best.
Our friendly hostess, Claire O"Sullivan, cooked a
wonderful breakfast (the
scrambled eggs wrapped in smoked salmon was yummy!).
Later, when I inquired
by email about the egg recipe, she promptly sent it and
another.
While relaxing on the sun porch of this elegant home, we
enjoyed a tranquil,
rural view of river and dale, where we met and chatted
with travelers from
other countries.
Our stay at Rivermount was a highlight of our trip and a
fine example of the
friendly and hospitable Irish people!
