Nothing quite surpasses the exceptional hospitality, wonderful food and expansive river valley view that the Rivermount House offers to its guests. Having lived in 7 countries on 4 continents as a U.S. diplomatic family, we have stayed in many hotels and B & B's over the years. Rivermount was recently renovated in what only can be called the finest of taste. Our room, facing the river, was done in tones of creams that exuded peace and tranquility which was most welcome after 8 hrs in the air and 4 hours of driving on the left side of the road! Claire O'Sullivan, the owner, is a delight to talk to with an engaging, self deprecating kind of humor the Irish are famous for. She has truly thought of everything to make her guests comfortable and happy. Fresh flowers beautifully arranged throughout the house, internet access, fluffy towels, current magazines in every room and would you believe, 220V AND 110V in each room so I was able to use my 110V flat iron instead of having to think about buying one in 220V! Most important of all, beside the gourmet style breakfasts and lovely accommodations, was the wealth of information that Claire was willing to provide, when asked, on sights not to miss, restaurants, shopping etc. All of her recommendations proved to be right on the mark. After spending time in the center of Kinsale, which is only a short drive away, we found we looked forward to returning the the peacefulness of Rivermount House. We certainly hope to return again and as we were driving away my husband and I both said "what a find this was!"
